With excessive power shots, the ball can land into the FLOWER BEDS behind the green, which is determined to be an abnormal course condition.
- Applying Rule 16, if a player’s ball is in the general area and there is interference by an abnormal course condition on the course, the player may take free relief by dropping the original ball or another ball in the general area.
- Additionally, according to local rules at Montgomerie Links, the player has the additional option of dropping the ball in the Drop Zone.

Last week I was taking a drive around the Montgomerie Links Golf Course and I watched group of ladies play some golf. You know I was very impressed with how they played the ball from tee to green and they seemed to be having such a great time laughing and joking, but when the all reached the approach to the green their gamed literally fell apart, they were hitting chip shots back and forth over the green and became very frustrated very quickly.
